i never claimed to be a saint

but keep in mind neither are you

you wield your book like it's your greatest weapon

but did you ever stop and think that maybe

that was not its intention

its intention

so you can gnash your teeth and stomp your feet

say that i'll have hell to pay

but this tapestry of hate you've woven

has begun to fray

because in the end words are only words

yet you still hide behind them no matter who you hurt

so forgive me if i do not follow suit

for what it's worth i'll respect your beliefs

can't you afford the same compassion

to your fellow man even if you do not
