i've written you how many words and still can't seem to say

quite enough or well enough

or ever just the right way

i try to be the world to you the way you are to me

but sometimes it seems like the more i try the harder you are to please

and i just wish that i could sing what song the best you'd ever heard

or paint the prettiest picture yet or find the perfect word

or just be the best at anything that would mean just that to you
